일단 최대 장점은 역시 공격력. 강한 오른발 킥력을 바탕으로 직접 골을 노릴 수 있으며, 실제로 득점력이 상당히 뛰어나다. 박스 안으로의 쇄도하는 데에도 능숙하거니와 중거리 슛도 강력하다. 그래서 공격수만큼 많은 골을 넣은 첼시의 프랭크 램파드와 비교되기도 한다. 득점 방식도 한 가지 패턴에만 의존하지 않고 헤딩, 중거리슛, 오른발, 직접 프리킥, 페널티킥 등 다양한 모습으로 득점한다. 페널티킥을 찰 때는 차기 직전에 점프를 뛴 뒤 차서 골키퍼의 타이밍을 빼앗는, 조르지뉴와 비슷한 점핑 스텝을 주로 사용한다. 

 

찬스 메이킹도 수준급이다. 기본적으로 기회다 싶으면 패스든 슛이든 과감하게 시도하며, 공간이 보인다 싶으면 전진패스나 공격 템포를 살리는 원터치 패스로 공격을 빠르게 이어나간다. 공을 질질 끌지 않고 빠르게 빠르게 처리하는 편. 이런 과감한 플레이는 브루누의 트레이드마크이며, 골과 어시스트를 비슷한 비율로 어마무시하게 쌓을 수 있는 원동력으로 평가받는다. 수비적인 능력은 장점으로까지 볼 수는 없지만 결코 나쁘지 않다. 오히려 공격형 미드필더라는 포지션을 감안하면 좋은 수준이며, 특히 활동량이 우수해서 2선과 3선을 오가며 공격, 수비에 모두 가담한다

Few midfielders in Europe have impressed as much in attack as Fernandes in the last four years, the player having moved from Sporting Clube de Portugal to a Manchester United side looking to reassert themselves in the hugely competitive Premier League.

 

He showed that prowess in the European play-offs for Qatar 2022, scoring one of the goals in the 2-0 defeat of North Macedonia that took the Portuguese to the world finals.

Fernandes poses a threat on the edge of the box thanks to both his shooting skills and his ability to pick out a team-mate when space is at a premium. And when it comes to dead-ball situations and penalties, few are as lethal or reliable as he is.
